Community Event – Climate Change and Calgary’s Future

Organized by Calgary Association of Lifelong Learners and Eco-Elders.
Eco-Elders is a node of the Calgary Climate Hub.
Panelists include:
- Druh Farrell, Ward 7 Councillor since 2001, and advocate for civic sustainability, including Calgary’s Climate Resilience Strategy
- Noel Keough, co-founder of Sustainable Calgary Society and CivicCamp Calgary, has researched and written about Calgary’s sustainability challenges for 25 years
- Annalise Klingbeil, co-founder of Champion Communications and a former city hall journalist for the Calgary Herald
- Melanee Thomas, Associate Professor of political science, University of Calgary, studying public opinion about energy transition
Moderated by Tom Kerwin, organized and moderated the CALL Climate Change Action series, and an energy-efficient housing expert

- Municipal government’s role in addressing climate change
- The most important climate change issues the City of Calgary could and should address
- How the City of Calgary is tracking its goal of reducing emissions to 80 per cent of 2005 levels by 2050
- Challenges in terms of jurisdiction, resources, logistics and finances
